26th Annual Reunion Welcome

It’s Wolfhound Reunion Time!! What I like most about the Wolfhound Reunions, besides meeting with the Wolfhound Brothers again and meeting new ones, is going to different reunion locations. We had never been to San Antonio or Charleston before and we saw different parts of the U.S. and the attractions in these locations.

We don’t have skyscrapers or mountains or all the traffic, but we have corn and bean fields, the Mississippi River and the Rock Island Arsenal. We have the home of John Deere Manufacturing, and the birth place of CMH recipient and fellow Wolfhound John F. Baker. We will visit his monument on one of the tours, plus many more attractions for you to discover.

We encourage you to drive to Davenport, Iowa for several reasons. The hotel has FREE parking, and there are several attractions close enough to visit but we may not have enough to fill a bus. For example, do you remember the movie “Field of Dreams” with Kevin Costner? It’s in Dyersville, IA. Any motorcyclists out there? In Anamosa, IA there is the National Motorcycle Museum ( Are there any golfers out there? We have several top-notch golf courses, including the TPC Deere Run – PGA Tour Public Golf in Silvis, IL. If you are a gambler, we have 4 gambling Hotel/Resorts we will identify for you when you arrive. There is the World’s Largest Truck Stop with a Museum of Trucks that you won’t believe – Iowa 80 Truck Museum in Walcott, IA. For Wolfhounds coming in from the West (on the west side of Des Moines), there is The Iowa Veterans Cemetery (exit 113 off I-80) which is well worth the stop.

The Radisson Quad City Plaza, which overlooks the Mississippi River, has a free shuttle from the airport, if you need one. Besides the restaurant in the hotel, there are at least 13 other eating establishments within 2 – 4 blocks. If you have a sweet tooth, walk across the street to the Chocolate Manor. The Hospitality Room will have additional features to your liking. Bring your pictures from your military years or if you have them on DVD or flashdrive, there will be a TV/monitor to play them. If you have any questions…just holler…!!!

Oh, I also forgot, how many of you that have gone to several Wolfhound Reunions have lanyards. You know those things that you put around your neck that holds your name tag. Well let’s bring them to the Quad to recycle them.
