Korean War - Andrew Carriero
Dear Sir,
My name is Jessica Pesce and I am emailing you to try and get some information about the wolf hound pack. My grandfather recently passed away in February, and I have been trying to put together his history from the war so we can honor him. From the bits he told me when he was alive, he said how he was part of the wolf hound pack, on the front lines and was a sergeant. My grandfather's name was Andrew J. Carriero. He served in the army. First, thank you for your inquiry regarding your Grandfather. However, in order to be of any assistance we would need to know the Battalion, Company and when your Grandfather served with the 27th Infantry Regiment (The Wolfhounds). Depending on when he served there is no guarantee.
We do see if anyone remembers those who served during the same era or if anyone has any pictures or documents which would be helpful.
I did find his obituary online and noticed he served in Korea. Even with that I still need a little more information if you have it. In the meantime, you might also want to check with the Korean War Project: www.koreanwr.org

Thank you so much for contacting me. I want to honor him in any way I can, and I know that he always felt like the military was a part of his life that was forgotten by many. His most significant duty assignment was 1745 Company Alpha 27th Infantry Regiment based in Korea during the Korean War. I can't seem to find his Battalion on his paperwork. He served from June 27, 1952 to June 25, 1954. He entered the military in New Haven CT and separated at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. I do have some pictures that my grandfather kept from when he served. I can attach them for you as well. He was a Sergeant, his component and branch/class was RA INF. If there is anything else I can get for you, please let me know. This means the absolute world to me.

Andrew J. Carriero
Andrew J. Carriero 83 of Shelton, passed away after a long illness on February 15th, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Andy was born in Stamford on February 23, 1932, he is the son of the late Anna (Sposta) Carriero and the late James Carriero. He was predeceased by his brother Anthony Carriero and his sister Julia Castiglione.
Andy served as a Sergeant, on the front lines, in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was employed by Pitney Bowes, Inc. in Stamford for 42 years as an electrical engineer and later as a plant engineer in the facilities department. After retirement, Andy enjoyed spending time with his family and taking that occasional trip to Mohegan Sun.
Andy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary (Bria) Carriero, his daughters Debbie Moss (Steve) and Cheryl Donarumo (George), his loving grandchildren Jason Andrew Moss and Jessica Nicole Pesce, whom he adored, and his nieces Marie Garofalo from Greensboro Georgia and Diane Sutherland from Greenwich. Andy will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
