PVT Joseph Cardin

The Siberian Expedition photos in the gallery linked below were passed from Joseph Cardin to his son Normand, and then through Normand's son Paul to the Historical Society. Paul provides the following details about his grandfather.

Joseph Cardin was born in 1895 in Taunton, Mass. He enlisted in the army on May 27, 1914 at Fort Slocum, NY, and received an honorable discharge on September 7, 1920. At the time of his discharge he was serving with G Company, 27th Infantry. His service number was 323765.

He served in Panama from October 6, 1915 through January 25, 1916 and then transferred to the Philippines. He left the Philippines for Siberia August 7, 1918, arrived Siberia August 14, 1918, where he remained until January 17, 1920. He returned to the Philippines January 25, 1920. He left the Philippines March 15, 1920, and returned to the US April 18, 1920.

He married Marie Bousquin June 3, 1926. He and Marie had two children, Normand and Corinne. Paul remembers that he died in 1958.

See below for scans of Joseph's enlistment record, honorable discharge, and authorization for 2 gold chevrons.
